Oh Look A Deer

Story:
Lyra and Star were hanging out outside at the Milky-Way ranch at a sunny warm spring day. The snow was melting pretty fast during the recent days so the ground was filled with little streams and puddles of water.
Some of them not even that little. Star kept splashing in the puddles and enjoying the warming sun that dried the splashes in no time. Lyra kept to herself a little bit further, she didn't feel like getting wet or causing splashes on the yard any more than what the nature made, but she didn't mind Star causing them either. She noticed her having a lot of fun so she was just happy for her. The young Tokota just wanted to enjoy the sun and relax. Lyra knew that peaceful days where going to become a bit more rare in the future, because of the upcoming talk about puppies. She had overheard Jeis phone call few days ago, and she has pretty wide vocabulary about human language. She was one of those who would listen silently and collect all the information she could to know what was coming, since she hated surprises and unexpected things.

Star Kept going with the splashes for a while and eventually got bored. She started to look for other things to do. Then she went on with her daily rounds around the ranch and making sure everyone and everything was okay in this world. After a while she spotted silently laying Lyra in the distance and went up to greet her happily. She gave Lyra some kisses and little nudges, and then sat besides her for a while. They both listened to the cheery singing of the spring birds, that were clearly celebrating the end of the winter. Jei was also walking around doing chores, handling food and cleaning up here and there, but her step was light and humming upbeat. She hated the winter and adored spring the most, cause it was the long waited salvation from the horrors of the dark cold season. Also spring was the one season that was the most far away from the previous dreadful one.

Star sat peacefully besides Lyra for what felt like eternity for her, and then went to bother Jei for a bit. Of course in her mind she was going to help her with what ever she needed help with. At that moment Jei was cleaning the porch of the main building. She was turned away from Star, having her mind on the window and cleaning it, when Star took the brush and started swaying it around very attentively. Jei knew that she had a good will, so she just let her do her thing. She kept spying on her moves from the windows reflection, but was barely able to keep a straight face. Northern Star was one of a kind, a true special snowflake.

When Jei was finished with the window, she turned to star and thanked her for the great aid she provided. In actuality there was a bit more sand and mud on the porch than what there was originally, but the praise she got made her so proud of her helping that she started flexing her chest and holding her head high. She dropped the sweeping brush for Jei, and gave her a friendly nudge on the side asking her to do something with her. "Oh sweet Star, I am sorry, I still got a lot of things to do, why won't you go for a run with Lyra? She is also out here somewhere. If it wasn't so muddy outside I would suggest you to get Boi to go with you, but you know how he is when it's wet and dirty outside." Jei said to Star, and ruffled her cheek fluffs a little.

Star was slightly bummed out that Jei was busy, but took the advice and went to see Lyra. When she arrived, the other female raised her head and tilted it slightly, being ready to hear her out. Star nudged her to follow, so Lyra got up and shook her body a little to wake it up from the peaceful resting. As they both trotted away from the the ranches yard, they heard Jeis shout after them "Be safe, take care of each other!". both their ears turned to hear her out and then they glanced at each other as if to say of course they would, they were part of the same family.

So they went on with the muddy roads and birds chirping. Star decided to bring up the pace at one point and Lyra was okay with it. It had been a while since she went out for a good run. As they were running, both thinking about their happy own thoughts, a deer ran across the road, just under their noses. When it was already few meters past them they realized what happened, and turned to instinctively chase after the prey. This would be a nice gift to bring pack to Jei and the rest of the family.

Meeting a deer on their run and deciding to take a dinner to Jei  and rest of the family as a gift.
